A B S T R A C T This invention relates to a method of forming a step to stile joint in a ladder which does not utilise mechanical fastenings such as rivets and the like. According to this invention, the step is provided with integral hollow sections extending therealong which protrude from each end and which pass through apertures in the stiles and are adapted to be stage connected thereto.
