ABSTRACT There is provided a module locking mechanism that may be used in association with a fold-up ladder. The lock- in mechanism includes an external lock release, a spring, at least one latch and an adjoining structure containing at least one aperture which mates with the latch. The ester- net lock release is movable so as to position the latch in either a locking or unlocking position. The latch is movably connected to the spring and is held in place by the spring when in locked position in the aperture.
