The present invention provides a lumen support stent for use in an artery or any body lumen. The stent is formed from a plurality of ladder elements having elongated ribs and end rungs affixed to the elongated ribs. The elongated ribs of adjacent ladder elements are slidably engaged by the end rungs of adjacent ladder elements. Sliding of the elongated ribs creates a variable distance between the end rungs of adjacent ladder elements. Consequently, the stent has a first diameter in which the distance between end rungs of adjacent ladder elements is collapsed, and a variable second diameter in which the distance between end rungs of adjacent ladder elements is expanded.
La présente invention concerne un stent support de lumière convenant à une artère ou toute lumière anatomique. Le stent est fait d'une pluralité d'éléments en échelle présentant des nervures de forme allongée ainsi que des barreaux d'échelle d'extrémité fixés aux nervures de forme allongée. Les nervures de forme allongée d'éléments en échelle adjacents sont en contact coulissant au niveau des barreaux d'échelle d'extrémité des éléments en échelle adjacents. Le coulissement des nervures de forme allongée crée une distance variable entre les barreaux d'échelle d'extrémité des éléments en échelle adjacents. Il en résulte que le stent présente un premier diamètre dans lequel la distance entre les barreaux d'échelle d'extrémité des éléments en échelle adjacents est effondrée, et un second diamètre variable dans lequel la distance entre les barreaux d'échelle d'extrémité des éléments en échelle adjacents est déployée.
