A laminate reinforced beam assembly (10) includes a beam (12) having a channel shape defined by spaced side walls. The beam has a contact location where it would be subjected to a point load force (F). A reinforcement layer (32) is provided on each of the side walls. The reinforcement layer is made of a polymer which forms a structural foam in its cured condition and which has a shape wherein its side edges taper toward each other in a direction away from the contact location.

Un ensemble poutre renforcée par un stratifié (10) se compose d'une poutre (12) en U délimitée par des parois latérales espacées. Ladite poutre présente une zone de contact destinée à être exposée à une force de charge ponctuelle (F). Une couche de renfort (32) est prévue de chaque coté des parois latérales. La couche de renfort est en polymère formant une mousse structurale à l'état durci et dont les bords latéraux se rejoignent en formant un cône, à distance du point de la zone de contact.
