ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A chain saw guide bar assembly includes opposing outer laminates in spaced relation as defined by a wire structure lying generally about the periphery of the laminates, but spaced inwardly of the edge boundary thereof whereby a saw chain groove formation results as defined by an exposed or outward facing portion of the wire structure and exposed portions of the inner surfaces of the outer laminates. The wire structure advantageously provides, in combination with the outer laminates, a containment cavity for a foam-adhesive core laminate which expands upon curing to fill the cavity and to adhere to the inner surfaces of the outer laminates. A very rigid yet lightweight chain saw bar results with less production complexity and cost relative to that of other core laminate chain saw bars.
