LAMINATED BUCKLE HOUSING ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A safety belt buckle includes a housing which is formed of at least first, second and third members that are in contact with one another and which are secured together, the second member being located between the first and third members. Each of the members has at least one opening that extends therethrough, and at least parts of the opening-are in substantial alignment with one another. The second member has a channel extending inwardly from an edge thereof to receive a cooperating tongue of the buckle. A movable latching device extends in and is movable within the openings of at least the second and third members and also is movable into and out of the channel. Means are provided for manually operating the latching device, a portion of the aforementioned means extending in and being movable within the opening of at least the first member. The housing is constructed so as to be capable of being connect- ed to a seat belt. The buckle is smaller, lighter, and less expensive to manufacture than previous buckles, and is so strong that its tensile strength exceeds that of any other major component in the buckle assembly.
