22 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A laminated insulating material of the type utilizing at least two layers of insulation medium and in- cludes a third layer of closed cell plastic interposed between each insulation layer. The air space created within the closed cells absorbs otherwise escaping thermal energy thereby reducing the amount of kinetic energy escaping out of the insulated environment. The third in- sulation layer serves as a secondary barrier to absorb residual thermal energy passing through the plastic layer. The arrangement of the laminated material increases the efficiency of the insulation as a thermal barrier thereby allowing it to operate more effectively in comparison to other known insulating materials. An additional facing of one, two or three plies of sheet material may also be fixed to the outer face of the third insulation layer.
