A laminated panel-type structure (10), particularly suited for vehicle interior applications such as headliners and door panels, has a multiple denier polyester fiber core (12) and randomly oriented structural reinforcing fibers (14, 16) attached and intertwined with the core (12) on opposing major sides of the core. The core (12) of intertwined polyester fibers of differing deniers preferably has relatively large denier fibers on exterior areas of the core and some bicomponent fibers. The laminate structure also has an impervious polymer film (18) with a low melt layer, which retains the reinforcing fibers (14) against one side of the core (12), and a scrim layer (20) attached to said impervious film (18). Next to the reinforcing fiber layer (16) is a polymer web (19) and a cover stock (22). The invention further includes a method of manufacturing the laminated structure.
L'invention concerne une structure laminée du type panneau (10), convenant particulièrement à des applications pour intérieur de véhicule telles que des garnitures de pavillon et des garnitures intérieures de portière. Cette structure comporte un noyau de fibre polyester (12) à plusieurs deniers ainsi que des fibres de renfort structurel à répartition aléatoire (14, 16) fixées au noyau (12) et enchevêtrées avec celui-ci sur des côtés principaux opposés du noyau. Ce noyau (12) constitué de fibres de polyester enchevêtrées mesurant différents deniers comprend de préférence des fibres relativement grandes sur des zones extérieures du noyau et certaines fibres à deux composants. Cette structure laminée comprend également un film polymère imperméable (18) pourvu d'une couche à point de fusion bas, lequel film retient les fibres de renfort (14) contre un côté du noyau (12), et une couche de tissu non-tissé à couches superposées biaisées (20) fixée à ce film imperméable (18). A côté de la couche de fibres de renfort (16) se trouvent une bande continue polymère (19) et un papier couverture (22). L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication de cette structure laminée.
