ABSTRACT A structural element which is particularly suited for use in accommodating torsional displacement while carrying various axial, transverse, and flexural loads. The structural element is of a multi-component construction which includes at least one elongated tube-like thin wall member having a pair of longitudinally-extending edges. The wall member is laterally engaged and constrained by one or more stabilizers which permit yielding relative motion between the edges when torque is applied.
