According to the present invention, a laminar wrapping paper is provided comprising first and second paper layers or laminae. Each lamina has an inside surface coated with a barrier coating. The layers are laminated by heat lamination, wherein the barrier coatings are melted together, or by providing an adhesive between the coated inside surfaces. The lamination may be accomplished in a selective or discontinuous manner in order to form air pockets within the laminar structure to increase the insulation characteristics of the wrapping paper. A plasticizer is applied to the outside surface of the first lamina. Graphic designs or lettering may be printed on the outside surface to identify the wrapped product or for purposes of decoration. The present invention is also directed at a process and apparatus for manufacturing the laminar wrapping paper described herein. First and second webs of paper are unrolled and passed through coating apparatus to coat one side of each web with a barrier coating. An adhesive is applied to one of the coated sides of the webs to laminate the webs together, or alternatively heat lamination is performed using a hot roll. A plasticizer is then applied to the outer side of the first web.
La présente invention a pour objet un papier d'emballage stratifié comportant une première et une deuxième couches de papier. Chaque couche de papier comporte une surface intérieure revêtue d'un revêtement d'isolement. Les couches en question sont formées par un procédé de doublage thermique au cours duquel les revêtements d'isolement sont fusionnés, ou encore par collage des surfaces intérieures enduites de colle. La stratification peut être réalisée de manière sélective ou discontinue, de manière à permettre la formation de poches d'air destinées à rehausser les propriétés isolantes du papier d'emballage. Un plastifiant est appliqué sur la surface extérieure de la première couche. Des éléments graphiques ou un lettrage peuvent être imprimés sur la surface extérieure aux fins d'identification du produit ainsi emballé ou à des fins décoratives. L'invention vise également un procédé ainsi qu'une installation pour la production du papier d'emballage décrit dans les présentes. Une première et une deuxième bandes de papier sont déroulées et acheminées à travers une machine dans laquelle une des faces de chacune des bandes de papier est enduite d'un revêtement isolant. Un adhésif est ensuite appliqué à l'une des faces des bandes de papier ainsi revêtues aux fins de laminage des bandes; l'assemblage des bandes peut aussi être effectué par laminage à chaud. Un plastifiant est ensuite appliqué sur la surface extérieure de la première bande de papier.
