Abstract In a process for laminating a supported photosensitive layer to a substrate surface by means of pressure, the improvement comprising the sequential steps of: (a) forming a thin layer of liquid on the substrate surface immediately prior to lamination by contacting the surface at a temperature below the condensation point of the liquid with a vapor or gaseous dispersion of the liquid, which layer forms an interface between the substrate surface and the photosensitive layer upon lamination; and (b) displacing the thin layer of liquid from the substrate surface by absorption into the photosensitive layer during lamination.
