A lamp aligning clip is presented for holding a lamp, preferably of the ceramic arc tube metal halide type, securely in place in a lampholder having opposed lamp retainer arms. The lamp aligning clip has a flexibly rigid body having a central portion and two side portions. When the clip is installed on the lampholder, the two side portions are flexed slightly outward, resulting in a reactive spring force against the opposing lamp retainer arms. The lamp retainer arms then engage the lamp, holding the lamp securely in place.
