A lamp assembly includes a base having power input terminals, a fluorescent lamp connected to the terminals through a manually operated switch that is on an exterior of the base so that when power is supplied to the terminals the fluores-cent lamp is selectively powered by manual operation of the switch, and a light emitting diode (LED) inseparably connected to the terminals so that when power is supplied to the terminals the LED is always powered. This arrangement allows the LED to be ON regardless of the operating status of the fluorescent lamp and allows the fluorescent lamp to be turned OFF while the LED remains ON. Operation is controlled by a toroid transformer with plural sets of turns, with one set of turns providing a feedback voltage for operation of the fluorescent lamp and another set of turns being shorted to turn OFF the fluorescent lamp.

Linvention concerne un ensemble lampe comprenant une base présentant des bornes dentrée dalimentation, une lampe fluorescente connectée aux bornes par lintermédiaire dun commutateur actionné manuellement qui est placé à lextérieur de la base de sorte que, lorsque les bornes sont alimentées, la lampe fluorescente soit alimentée sélectivement par un actionnement manuel du commutateur, et une diode électroluminescente (DEL) connectée de manière indissociable aux bornes de sorte que, lorsque les bornes sont alimentées, la DEL soit toujours alimentée. Cette disposition permet à la DEL dêtre allumée quel que soit létat de fonctionnement de la lampe fluorescente et permet à la lampe fluorescente dêtre éteinte lorsque la DEL reste allumée. Le fonctionnement est commandé par un transformateur toroïdal doté de plusieurs ensembles de spires, un ensemble de spires fournissant une tension de rétroaction pour le fonctionnement de la lampe fluorescente et un autre ensemble de spires étant court-circuitées pour éteindre la lampe fluorescente.
