A kit for a lamp box, in which the kit includes plural square cells, with slots extending into the cell and located on sides of the cell between the corners of the cell. When identical cells are placed together, meeting at a corner, a metal tube may be slid into the eight slots (when four cells meet at a corner) or four slots (when two cells meet either along a side or at a corner) to bind the cells together. The cell members are formed in a rectangular array, with each cell adjoined to each adjoining cell by the metal tubes, and four frame members are places around the periphery of the array. The frame members have slot pairs spaced along the frame member at a spacing corresponding to the cell length, so that the tubes may pass through the slot pairs on the frame member and bind the frame member to the array. The slots are slanted inwardly into the cell away from the nearest corner, so that the tubes bind against the slot walls as they are forced into the slots. Circuit boards may be mounted in the cells by providing them with tabs that extend into the slots and are secured in the slots by the tubes. A method of making a lamp box uses the kit of the invention.
