A lampholder includes a housing which has an expanded open end for receiving a bulb and an opposite closed bottom end having a first slot formed up for receiving therein a side contact member in the form of an elongated strip which partially extends into the first slot to substantially juxtapose an inside surface of the shell and is adapted to be contacted by the ring contact of the bulb and a pair of substantially centrally located second slots to receive therein a substantially U-shaped center-contact adapted to be contacted by the tip contact of the bulb base. The U-shaped center contact has a central flat section and two opposing side sections protruding from ends of the central flat section to be respectively received within the second slots with the central section supported by an inside surface of the bottom of the socket. Each of the side sections has a bent portion to engage outer surface of the socket bottom for securely holding the center contact in place.
