LANCE HEAD FOR PUDDLING LANCE Abstract The specification discloses a lance head for puddling lances having a plurality of expansion nozzles diverging from the longitudinal axis towards the bath surface, a cooling medium supply duct and a cooling medium return duct, the ducts being arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis, and flow conducting means between the ducts for cooling the lance head and for altering the direction of flow of the cooling medium. The flow conducting means comprises a flow deflector member on a pipe delimiting the supply and return ducts and extending in a direction towards the longitudinal axis, the flow deflector member being spaced from the bottom of the lance head and being concave, in the radial vicinity of the cross-sectionally narrowing expansion nozzles, at its side facing towards the bottom plate. The lance heads of this invention have been found to have considerably longer life than the conventional lance heads.
