A large-diameter PTFE seal (60). The lip (76) of the seal is made from a long strip of PTFE bound together at the ends with the aid of a patchng tape to form a closed loop. The loop is then flanged and placed between an inner and an outer case (62, 64), together with a rubber-like gasket (78), and the cases are crimped together, entrapping the lip material between them.
