The invention relates to a laryngeal mask airway device (1) for insertion into a patient to provide an airway passage to the patient's glottic opening, the device comprising an airway tube(2) , a mask (3) attached to the airway tube, the mask comprising a body (4) including a peripheral inflatable cuff (5) , an outlet (6) and an inlet (7) , the mask being attached to the airway tube via the inlet for gaseous communication between the tube and the outlet, there being at least one fibre-optic cable (23, 24) terminating adjacent the outlet for receiving, in use, an image of the patient's glottic opening, and means (50) for viewing the image, the viewing means being disposed such that the viewing means remains in the user's field of view during manipulation of the device by the user to view the glottic opening.
L'invention concerne un dispositif pour voies aériennes de type masque laryngé (1) destiné à être inséré dans le corps d'un patient pour établir un passage dans les voies aériennes vers l'ouverture glottique du patient. Le dispositif selon l'invention comprend : un tube pour voies aériennes (2) ; un masque (3) qui est fixé sur le tube pour voies aériennes et qui comprend un corps (4) comportant une collerette gonflable périphérique (5), une sortie (6) et une entrée (7), le masque étant fixé sur le tube pour voies aériennes par l'intermédiaire de l'entrée pour permettre une communication gazeuse entre le tube et la sortie ; au moins un câble à fibre optique (23, 24) qui s'arrête à côté de la sortie pour recevoir, lors de l'utilisation, une image de l'ouverture glottique du patient, et ; des moyens (5) pour visualiser l'image, ces moyens de visualisation étant positionnés de manière à rester dans le champ visuel de l'utilisateur lorsque le dispositif est manipulé par l'utilisateur pour visualiser l'ouverture glottique.
