A modified laryngeal mask airway device (LMA-device) is provided with means to improve ease of insertion, reliability of function and higher seal pressure (i.e., cuff pressure ratio). The LMA-device includes an inflatable main cuff which, when inflated, has the shape of a torus generated by an asymmetrical oval, and also includes a back plate with a bowl having a transversally concave laryngeal- side and a convex pharyngeal-side. The back plate is bonded to a periphery of the main cuff establishing a separation between a laryngeal chamber region and a pharyngeal region. The back plate includes an external tube joint adjacent to the proximal region of the main cuff.
La présente description concerne un dispositif pour voies aériennes de type masque laryngé modifié pourvu d'un moyen permettant d'améliorer l'insertion, la fiabilité de fonctionnement et la pression d'étanchéité (p. ex. pression du ballonnet). Le dispositif inclut un ballonnet gonflable principal qui, lorsqu'il est gonflé, prend la forme d'un torus généré par un ovale asymétrique, ainsi qu'une plaque d'appui munie d'un bol ayant un côté larynx concave transversalement et un côté pharynx convexe. La plaque d'appui est collée à une périphérie du ballonnet principal et marque ainsi la séparation entre une région laryngée et une région pharyngée. La plaque d'appui comporte un joint de tube externe installé à côté de la région proximale du ballonnet principal.
