The stent placement dilation balloon assembly comprises a catheter having a distal end, a distal end portion, and a proximal end, a balloon (14) mounted to, about, and around the distal end portion of the catheter. The assembly- further includes an elastic sheath (28) positioned about and around the balloon. The outer surface of the sheath includes a profile which encourages stent securement. A stent is mounted on the sleeve for placement in a vessel in a human body.

La présente invention concerne un ensemble ballonnet de dilatation destiné à la mise en place d~un stent qui comprend un cathéter composé d~une extrémité distale, d~une partie d~extrémité distale et d~une extrémité proximale, et un ballonnet (14) monté sur, à proximité, et autour de la partie d~extrémité distale du cathéter. Cet ensemble comprend également une gaine élastique (28) disposée à proximité et autour du ballonnet. La surface externe de la gaine comprend un profil qui favorise la fixation du stent. Un stent est monté sur le manchon afin d~être mis en place dans un vaisseau situé dans un corps humain.
