Provided herein is a method and system to increase selective therrnomechanical damage to a biological body, such as a cancer cell. The biological body or cancer cell is specifically targeted with nanoparticulates comprising one or more targeting moieties and effective to form nanoparticulate clusters on or within the biological body or cell. Pulsed electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength spectrum selected for a peak wavelength near to or matching a peak absorption wavelength of the nanoparticulates selectively heats the nanoparticulates resulting in selective and increased thermomechanical damage to the biologic body or cells without affecting any surrounding medium or normal cells or tissues. Also provided is a method of treating leukemia using the methods and system described herein.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un système permettant d'augmenter la destruction thermomécanique sélective d'un corps biologique, tel qu'une cellule cancéreuse. Le corps biologique ou la cellule cancéreuse est spécifiquement ciblé à l'aide de nanoparticules comprenant une ou plusieurs fraction(s) de ciblage permettant de former efficacement des grappes de nanoparticules sur le corps biologique ou la cellule cancéreuse ou à l'intérieur de celui-ci ou celle-ci. Un rayonnement électromagnétique pulsé comprenant un spectre de longueur d'onde sélectionné pour une longueur d'onde de crête proche ou correspondant à une longueur d'onde d'absorption de crête de nanoparticules chauffe sélectivement lesdites nanoparticules, ce qui a pour résultat d'augmenter la destruction thermomécanique sélective du corps biologique ou des cellules sans affecter un milieu environnant quelconque ou des cellules ou tissus normaux. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de traiter la leucémie à l'aide des procédés et système précités.
