A laser device comprises a non-collinear optical parametric generator (OPG) and a pump wave source (4). The OPG comprises a non-linear crystal (1) fixedly mounted within the generator wherein the relative orientations of the pump wave (3) and each generated wave (5) to an optic axis (2) of the non-linear crystal (1) are substantially such that a point of inflexion is produced in a tuning curve of wavelength versus pump wave orientation of one of the generated waves, such that a broadband spectral output is obtained. This device has many applications including an amplifier for an input seed wave in which the crystal does not have to be rotated to match the wavelength of the seed wave; or as part of a continuously tuneable narrowband source. Other applications are in spectral analysis and coherence tomography.

L'invention concerne un dispositif laser comprenant un générateur paramétrique optique (GPO) non colinéaire et une source d'onde de pompage (4). Le GPO contient un cristal non linéaire (1) monté à demeure à l'intérieur du générateur, dans lequel, par rapport à un axe optique (2) du cristal non linéaire (1), l'orientation de l'onde de pompage (3) et l'orientation de chaque onde générée (5) sont sensiblement celles qui permettent la production d'un point d'inflexion entre, d'une part, l'intérieur d'une courbe d'accord d'une longueur d'onde et, d'autre part, l'orientation d'une onde de pompage d'une des ondes générées, le but étant d'obtenir une sortie spectrale à large bande. Ce dispositif connaît de nombreuses applications. Il peut servir notamment d'amplificateur pour onde initiale d'entrée dans lequel le cristal ne doit pas subir de rotation pour s'accorder à la longueur de l'onde initiale, ou comme élément d'une source à bande étroite à accord continu. Il s'applique également à l'analyse spectrale ainsi qu'à la tomographie cohérente.
