ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A laser system wherein a pulsed switching signal is applied to the modulator to provide a mode-coupled output beam having spaced short pulses. The synchronized pulsed switching signal can be provided by an external driver and or by feedback from the laser beam.
