Abstract of the Disclosure This invention provides a laser recording film formed by providing a recording layer containing a non-self-oxidizing binder, heat-absorptive fine particles which can impart a high optical density and a heat ray absorber having a strong absorption in the wavelength band of laser beams used for recording on a transparent substrate, wherein a pro- tective layer comprising an organic polymer is provided on said recording layer. Because no self-oxidizing binder is used, this film is freed from problems such as corrosion of a system, unsafeness during storage and poor resolution , and it is protected from being scratched. Examples of the organic polymers include polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylamide, polyvinyl- pyrrolidone, polyacrylic acid, carboxymethylcellulose, starch, casein, vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, poly- urethane, polyethylene, and carboxylated polyethylene.
