A method of manufacturing substrates for laser diodes and similar opto-electronic devices. The substrates have a bi-level configuration with at least two isolated metal contacts extending continuously between the two surfaces. The method permits mass production of such substrate from a plate of substrate material. A substrate resulting from the method is also described.

Cette invention concerne une méthode de fabrication de substrats de diodes laser et dispositifs opto-électroniques analogues. Les substrats sont bi-couches et comportent au moins deux contacts métalliques isolés continus entre les deux couches. La méthode permet la fabrication en grande série de tels substrats à partir d'une plaque de matériau constitutif. Cette invention concerne également le substrat obtenu selon la méthode proposée.
