LASHING AND DAMPING ARRANGEMENT FOR ROTATING TURBINE BLADES ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A lashing and damping arrangement for minimizing vibrations of the tips of rotating turbine blades. An elongated lashing wire has hemispherical ball heads securely fastened thereto at each terminus thereof. The heads are received within corresponding hemispherical sockets, the sockets being mounted adjacent the trailing edge of a first rotating blade and adjacent the leading edge of a second rotating blade, both sockets being disposed adjacent to the radial tip of each blade. The surfaces between the hemi- spherical balls and the sockets integrally mounted to the blade provides a friction generating interface so that any motion of the tips of either blade in any predetermined direction generates a rolling and a sliding frictional force along the interface to inhibit motion of the blade tips.
