A latch assembly (910) having at least one control element (912) having a first path of motion in which a ratchet (916) is moved to an unlatched position and a second path of motion in which the ratchet (916) is not so moved, the path of motion taken by the control element (912) dependent upon whether an engagement element (942) is engaged with the control element (912) or disengaged therefrom. Preferably, the control element (912) moves the ratchet (916) by contact with a pawl (926) which itself can be engaged with the ratchet (916). In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the control element (912) can be partially or fully actuated through its second path of motion while still being engagable with its engagement element (942). If already partially or fully actuated through its second path of motion, the engagement element (942) is preferably movable into contact with the control element (912) and can move the control element (912) to its first path of motion.
L'invention concerne un ensemble verrou présentant au moins un organe de commande ayant une première trajectoire de déplacement dans laquelle un cliquet se déplace vers une position de déverrouillage et une seconde trajectoire de déplacement dans laquelle le cliquet est immobilisée, la trajectoire empruntée étant dépendante de la mise en prise d'un élément d'engagement avec l'organe de commande ou de son escamotage de toute prise avec celui-ci. De préférence, l'organe de commande déplace le cliquet par contact au moyen d'une détente qui peut elle-même être mise en prise avec le cliquet. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré de l'invention, l'organe de commande peut être partiellement ou entièrement actionné vers sa seconde trajectoire et, dans le même temps, mis en prise avec son élément d'engagement. S'il a déjà été partiellement ou entièrement actionné vers sa seconde trajectoire, l'élément d'engagement peut, de préférence, être mis en contact avec l'organe de commande et déplacer ce dernier vers sa première trajectoire. L'ensemble verrou peut comprendre un second organe de commande ayant également des première et seconde trajectoires déterminées de moins partiellement par la mise en prise d'un élément d'engagement avec le second organe de commande ou son escamotage de toute prise avec celui-ci. Ce second organe de commande peut être relié au premier élément d'engagement en vue de mettre en prise ce dernier ou de le désengager du premier organe de commande lorsque le second est actionné dans sa position de mise en prise.
