A latch assembly comprises a handle (12) and a shaft (14). The handle (12) includes a surface (26) having a plurality of ribs (40d, 40e) that are engaged by the shaft (14) in operation. The ribs (40d, 40e) alone and in combination with the shaft (14) can provide a variety of features, including retaining the assembled position of the handle (12) and shaft (14), limiting sideways movememt of the shaft (14) during assembly and in operation, supporting the shaft (14) during pivotal movement of the handle (12) in operation and as a grip for an operator.

L'invention concerne un ensemble de verrouillage comprenant une poignée (12) et une tige (14). La poignée (12) présente une surface (26) sur laquelle sont ménagés plusieurs renfoncements (40d, 40e) avec lesquels entre en contact ladite tige (14) en cours d'utilisation. Qu'ils soient utilisés seuls ou en association avec cette tige (14), ces renfoncements (40d, 40e) peuvent remplir diverses fonctions, et permettent notamment de maintenir assemblées ladite poignée (12) et ladite tige (114), de limiter tout déplacement latéral de cette dernière en cours de montage ou d'utilisation, de soutenir la tige (14) pendant que la poignée (12) pivote en cours d'utilisation, et facilitent la saisie dudit ensemble par un utilisateur.
