- 7 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A simple latch assembly suitable for a liftable seat cushion in a motor vehicle comprises a latch member in the form of a wire having two lobes each extending approximately in radial planes from a common axis. One lobe engages a catch, the other can be manipulated. The ends of the wire are fixed at spaced points so that rotation of either lobe about the common axis displaces the other and generates a restoring force in the loop biasing the lobes towards their original positions.
