ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved latch device for releasably locking in a recess in a well flow conductor. The latch is attachable to a well tool which may be positioned and operated to latch and lock in and later be retrieved from the flow conductor using wireline or TFL pumpdown tools and methods. An expandable c-ring is utilized as the latching element for the latch device.
