An improved downhole pump assembly with method of oil production is disclosed which uses a remotely releasable downhole pump and permits the securing of the plunger portion of the pump relative to the outer housing and the pump's relocation from the pump seating nipple in the tubing thereby reducing the amount of flowback formation fluids passing through the pump which would otherwise damage its internal mechanism.
