A mobile living quarter incorporates a slide out room which is moveable between an extended position providing an auxiliary living area when the unit is parked but which is retracted into the main living area when the unit is moved. A latching mechanism automatically latches the slide out room to the main living area as the slide out room is moved into the fully retracted position, and releases the latch (50) to permit outward movement of the slide out room when the unit is parked and the slide out room is extended.

L'invention se rapporte à une caravane comportant une extension coulissante qu'il est possible de faire passer d'une position déployée, dans laquelle ladite extension constitue une surface habitable supplémentaire lorsque ladite caravane est stationnée, à une position d'escamotage dans laquelle ladite extension rentre à l'intérieur de la surface habitable principale lorsque la caravane est tractée. Un mécanisme de verrouillage verrouille automatiquement l'extension coulissante à la surface habitable principale lorsque ladite extension coulissante est amenée en position d'escamotage total. Le verrou (50) est déverrouillé pour permettre le déploiement vers l'extérieur de ladite extension coulissante lorsque la caravane est stationnée et que ladite extension est déployée.
