ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A latent heat storage device has a vessel receiving a latent heat storage medium and a heat exchange medium, the latter being immiscible with the former and being circulated from a collection chamber of the vessel, through the storage medium in direct contact therewith and back into the collection chamber. In the collection chamber is disposed a heat ex- changer whose preferably vertical surfaces are in heat ex- change relationship with the heat exchange medium. The exchanger has two separate heat carrier medium conduits in heat conductive relationship with each other, one for supply- ing and the other for withdrawing heat from the collection chamber due to heat-conductive contact with the heat exchange medium. The basic advance in the art is in that a displacement of heat storage substance by the heat exchange medium does not impair heat exchange even on a long period of operation. The overall arrangement is very simple. Six different em- bodiments are disclosed.
