The invention relates to a lateral face (11) for blocking the casting space (6) of a continuous casting facility for metal strips of the type comprising two counterrotating cylinders (5, 5') cooled internally, on horizontal axes, whose lateral cylindrical surfaces define a casting space (6) whose width at the neck (7) determines the thickness of the strip, the said lateral face (11) presenting an active part (3) designed to rub against the edges (4) of the cylinders (5, 5') during casting and to face the said casting space (6), distinctive in that the dimensions of the said active part (3) are such that its lower edge (12) is designed to be located at a distance (d) equal to at least 1 mm above the neck (7) when the lateral face (11) is mounted on the casting facility. The invention also relates to a metal strip continuous casting facility of the type comprising two counterrotating cylinders (5, 5') cooled internally, on horizontal axes, whose lateral cylindrical surfaces define a casting space (6) whose width at the neck (7) determines the thickness of the strip, two lateral faces for blocking its casting space, distinctive in that the said lateral faces are of the former type.
L'invention a pour objet une face latérale (11) pour l'obturation de l'espace decoulée (6) d'une installation de coulée continue de bandes métalliques du type comportant deux cylindres (5, 5') contrarotatifs refroidis intérieurement, à axes horizontaux, dont les surfaces latérales cylindriques définissent un espace de coulée (6) dont la largeur au col (7) détermine l'épaisseur de la bande, ladite face latérale (11) présentant une partie active (3) destinée à frotter contre les chants (4) des cylindres (5, 5') en cours de coulée et à faire face audit espace de coulée (6), caractérisée en ce que les dimensions de ladite partie active (3) sont telles que son bord inférieur (12) est destiné à ètre situé à une distance (d) égale à au moins 1 mm au-dessus du col (7) lorsque la face latérale (11) est montée sur l'installation de coulée. L'invention a aussi pour objet une installation de coulée continue de bandes métalliques du type comportant deux cylindres (5, 5') contrarotatifs refroidis intérieurement, à axes horizontaux, dont les surfaces latérales cylindriques définissent un espace de coulée (6) dont la largeur au col (7) détermine l'épaisseur de la bande, et deux faces latérales d'obturation de son espace de coulée, caractérisée en ce que lesdites faces latérales sont du type précédent
