LATTICE FILTER FOR WAVEFORM OR SPEECH SYNTHESIS CIRCUITS USING DIGITAL LOGIC ABSTRACT A system for synthesizing human speech in response to a plurality of digital filter coefficients and digital excitation signals comprises a memory for storing the digital filter coefficients and a generator for generating the digital excitation signals. A digital filter is coupled to the memory and the generator for producing digital signals representative of human speech in response to the digital filter coefficients and the digital excitation signals. The digital filter comprises a multiplier circuit, a first circuit for coupling the memory and the multiplier circuit, an arithmetic circuit having an input coupled to the multiplier circuit, a digital storage for storing data outputted from the arithmetic circuit, and a second circuit for selectively coupling the outputs of the digital storage and the arithmetic circuit to an input of the multiplier circuit. A converter is coupled to the digital filter for converting the digital signals representative of human speech into analog signals, and an audio device is coupled to the converter for converting the analog signals into audible sounds.
