A fabric rebuild polymer comprising a cellulose or other .beta.-1,4 linked polysaccharide backbone with acetate groups pendant thereto, the average degree of substitution of acetate groups on the saccharide groups of the backbone being 0.55 - 0.70, with a molecular weight in the range 12,000 - 20,000 gives particularly effective fabric rebuild effect in a laundry treatment process at a pH in the range 9.5 - 11Ø

L'invention porte sur un polymère de reconstitution de tissus qui comprend un squelette de cellulose ou de polysaccharide .beta.-1,4 lié à des groupes acétate pendants, le degré de substitution des groupes acétate sur les groupes saccharide du squelette étant compris entre 0,55 et 0,70, avec un poids moléculaire compris entre 12,000 et 20,000. Ce polymère permet d'obtenir un effet de reconstitution des tissus particulièrement efficace dans un procédé de traitement de blanchisserie à un pH compris entre 9,5 et 11,0.
