A cutting head for a rotary lawnmower includes a hub having at least two symmetrically arranged blade mounting lobes. Each of the blade mount lobes have a plurality of radially spaced mounting apertures. A universal mounting is provided for attaching the hub to a rotary shaft of most common makes of lawnmower for balanced rotational movement with the rotary shaft. Blades are pivotally mounted for movement about a vertical axis on each of the at least two blade mounting lobes. The blades are symmetrically mounted in one of the radially spaced mounting apertures in each of the at least two blade mounting lobes.
