Techniques for sending data during handover with Layer (2) tunneling are described. In one design, a user equipment (UE) sends first Layer (2) packets to a source base station prior to handover to a target base station. The UE sends at least one second Layer (2) packet to the target base station, which identifies the second Layer (2) packet(s) as being intended for the source base station and thus forwards the second Layer (2) packet(s) to the source base station via a Layer (2) tunnel. The UE sends third Layer (2) packets to the target base station after the handover. The target base station processes the third Layer (2) packets to obtain IP packets and sends the IP packets to a serving gateway after a trigger condition, which may be defined to achieve in-order delivery of IP packets from the source and target base stations to the serving gateway.
Cette invention concerne des techniques permettant d'envoyer des données pendant un transfert intercellulaire par transmission tunnel de couche 2. Dans un mode de réalisation, un équipement utilisateur (UE) envoie des premiers paquets de couche 2 à une station de base source avant le transfert intercellulaire vers une station de base cible. L'équipement utilisateur (UE) envoie au moins un second paquet de couche 2 à la station de base cible, laquelle identifie le ou les paquets de couche 2 comme étant des paquets destinés à la station de base source et les renvoie vers la station de base source par l'intermédiaire d'une transmission tunnel de couche 2. L'équipement utilisateur envoie des troisièmes paquets de couche 2 à la station de base cible après le transfert intercellulaire. La station de base cible traite les troisièmes paquets de couche 2 afin d'obtenir les paquets IP puis il envoie les paquets IP à une passerelle de service après une condition de déclenchement pouvant être définie afin de permettre la distribution en ordre des paquets IP depuis les stations de base source et cible vers la passerelle de service.
