ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE LEACHING OF COBALT METAL WITH HYDROCHLORIC ACID Cobalt salts are produced by dissolving cobalt metal in hydrochloric acid containing a small amount of thiosulfate ions. The process can be operated to obtain a high strength and purity cobalt chloride solution that is suitable for the production in a manner known per se of pure cobalt salts, which may be obtained with a sulphur content of less than 0.05% by weight.
