To improve the adjustment of the settings of a hearing aid or a hearing instrument respectively, a method is proposed according to which at least one setting of the hearing aid or instrument respectively for a particular acoustic environment is changed or deviated from the actual setting without any preceding action or manipulation of the user to provoke the user to interact or to readjust e.g. said setting.
