A flashlight (10) configured to durably provide an effective beam of light for extended periods of time. The flashlight (10) features a high-power, directed LED (60) configured to produce a divergent beam of light (64) that is characterized by an optical directivity angle (68) extending from a vertex point. The flashlight includes a lens (14) having a first portion forming a convergent lens (82), where the LED (60) is located such that its vertex point coincides with the lens' focal point. The convergent lens is sized and positioned such that substantially all of the directed light from the LED passes through the convergent lens portion (82) to emerge in a first beam of parallel light (110). The LED (60) emits additional light (120) through a tip (66). A parabolic reflector (92) has the tip (66) at its focalpoint to reflects the additional light into a second beam of parallel light (122) that is parallel to and surrounding the first beam (110), thus forming a single and more efficient useful beam. The LED (60) and parabolic reflector (92) are formed into an illuminator assembly (16) that is contained within a housing (12,18) of the flashlight so as to hold the LED (60) in alignment with its preferred position with respect to the parabolic reflector (92).

La DEL (60) et le réflecteur parabolique (92) sont regroupés dans un ensemble d'illumination (16) contenu dans un logement (12, 18) de la lampe de poche de façon à maintenir la DEL (60) en alignement avec sa position préférée par rapport au réflecteur parabolique (92).
