A light emitting diode (LED) lamp includes a base with one or more LED chips, an internal cover (16) over the LED chips, where the cover (16) is a translucent ceramic whose thermal conductivity is greater than that of glass, where the cover has an interior surface separated from the LED chips by a gap, and where an exterior surface of the cover is coated with a phosphor. The ceramic cover (16) preferably has a bulk thermal conductivity of at least 5 W/ (m?K), such as polycrystalline alumina. The LED chips preferably are blue LEDs and the phosphor is selected so that the lamp emits white light. In the method of making the lamp, the phosphor may be applied to the exterior surface of the cover as a preformed sheet or in a coating.
L'invention concerne une lampe à diodes électroluminescentes (LED) comprenant une base avec plusieurs puces à diodes électroluminescentes, un couvercle intérieur (16) au-dessus des puces à diodes électroluminescentes, le couvercle (16) étant une céramique translucide dont la conductivité thermique est supérieure à celle du verre, le couvercle ayant une surface intérieure séparée des puces à diode électroluminescente par un espace, et une surface extérieure du couvercle étant recouverte d'un phosphore. Le couvercle en céramique (16) a de préférence une conductivité thermique de masse d'au moins 5 W/ (m?K), comme une alumine polycristalline. Les puces à diodes électroluminescentes sont de préférence des diodes électroluminescentes bleues et le phosphore est sélectionné de telle sorte que la lampe émette de la lumière blanche. Dans le procédé de fabrication de la lampe, le phosphore peut être appliqué sur la surface extérieure du couvercle comme une feuille préformée ou dans un revêtement.
