The invention provides an improved skylight of the tubular type.The addition of solar powered light emitting diodes to the interior of the tube provides twenty-four hour light capability. The solar panel on the exterior of a building is attached to a re-chargable battery in the building. The battery is attached to the light emitting diodes inside the light tube. The battery is charged at a higher rate lien the light emitting diodes draw from the battery. The result is a combination of constant light emitted from the pipe and independent from a conventional power grid.
