A leg supporting assembly to maintain the foot of a patient in a neutral position to take measurements for the preparation of orthotic insoles or orthopedic shoes is described herein. The leg supporting assembly includes a leg support and a foot positioning assembly. The foot positioning assembly is designed to be so adjusted as to position and to maintain the external malleolus perpendicular to the metatarsus, which leads to a neutral position of the foot.
