A method and device for anchoring a length of self-retaining suture. The method of anchoring includes providing for an assembly having a length of self-retaining suture and a suture insertion device. The length of suture includes at least a portion of the length having a plurality of retainers thereon extending in a first direction. The insertion device has a length and a recess to receive a portion of the suture length. The method further includes placing a portion of the suture length in the recess and inserting the device into the body of a mammal until the recess reaches a predetermined location thereby forming an insertion pathway. The method further includes retrieving the insertion device from the body by moving the insertion device in a direction substantially opposed to the insertion pathway.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour ancrer une longueur d'une suture auto-rétentive. Le procédé d'ancrage comprend les étapes suivantes: fournir un ensemble comprenant une longueur d'une suture auto-rétentive et un dispositif d'insertion de suture. La longueur de suture présente au moins une partie qui comporte une pluralité d'éléments de retenue qui s'étendent dans une première direction. Le dispositif d'insertion présente une longueur et un évidement qui lui permettent de recevoir une partie de la longueur de suture. Le procédé comprend en outre la disposition de la longueur de suture dans l'évidement et l'insertion du dispositif dans le corps d'un mammifère jusqu'à ce que l'évidement atteigne un point prédéterminé, formant ainsi un chemin d'insertion. Le procédé comprend en outre la récupération du dispositif d'insertion hors du corps en déplaçant le dispositif d'insertion dans une direction qui est sensiblement opposée à celle du chemin d'insertion.
