ABSTRACT A lens-applied optical fiber connector is used for optical communication. The lens-applied optical fiber connector is structured so that the optical fiber connectors are inserted into a lens-applied sleeve and this sleeve is inserted into the adapter. In the present invention, the lens is held by a lens holder thicker than the lens and the lens holder is protected by a guard means thicker than the lens holder at the end surface of the sleeve. The focal length of the lens is selected to be 0.09 to 0.23 mm and the lens is provided at the area on the optical axis of the optical fiber which is separated from the end surface of the fiber as far as the focal length.
