ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sealed beam headlamp unit for a motor vehicle stream- lined to conform to the streamlining of the body portion of the vehicle on which it is mounted. The sealed beam unit has a parabolic reflector with a transparent lens mounted thereon and sloped at an angle to the axis of the reflector. The lens has normal formations on the internal surface thereof for scattering the light to suitably illuminate the roadway ahead of the vehicle and in addition thereto, there are a plurality of spaced apart horizontal prisms superimposed thereon for directing the beam of light horizontally downwardly with the lens sloping rearwardly on the vehicle.
