ABSTRACT A contact lens cleaning and polishing apparatus adapted for use with a lens polishing machine includes a mandrel over which is placed a soft compound resiliently flexible membrane. The membrane is adapted to conform to the contour of a lens surface to be polished placed thereon. When a lens is to be cleaned or polished, the lens is brought into apposition with or in close proximity to the surface of the soft compound membrane to facilitate polishing of the lens over the full surface of the area of the lens to be cleaned or polished.
