The invention provides a device for cutting open envelopes, including a body mounted on, or integral with, a base, the base having a feeding surface along which envelopes are introduced into the device, the body being provided with a slot extending in a plane substantially perpendicular to the plane of the feeding surface, the length of which slot substantially defines the length of cut of the device. The device further includes a cutting blade having at least one cutting edge and being slidably mounted in the slot, the blade being adapted to be moved first in direction towards, and then in direction away from, the feeding surface; pressure-applying means articulated to the body for causing the cutting blade to move towards the the feeding surface, and a restoring spring for causing the cutting blade to move away from the feeding surface. Cutting takes place by shearing action between the at least one cutting edge of the cutting blade and a cutting edge provided on the feeding surface, opening of the envelope being accomplished by cutting a relatively narrow strip off an edge of the envelope.
La présente invention consiste en un dispositif pour ouvrir des enveloppes, qui comporte un corps monté sur une base ou en faisant partie intégrante; la base comporte une surface par laquelle les enveloppes sont introduites dans le dispositif; le corps est muni d'une fente se prolongeant sur un plan essentiellement perpendiculaire au plan de la surface d'alimentation; la longueur de la fente définit essentiellement la longueur de la coupure effectuée par le dispositif. Le dispositif comporte aussi une lame munie d'au moins un bord tranchant, et est montée dans la fente et adaptée de manière à bouger d'abord en direction de la surface d'alimentation et ensuite en direction opposée de cette surface; des éléments articulés servant à appliquer une pression sont montés sur le corps pour faire avancer la lame vers la surface d'alimentation, et un ressort de rappel sert à faire bouger la lame en direction opposée de la surface d'alimentation. La coupure s'effectue par cisaillement entre au moins un bord tranchant de la lame et un bord tranchant de la surface d'alimentation; l'enveloppe peut ainsi être ouverte en coupant une bande relativement étroite d'un bord de l'enveloppe.
