A level gravity conveyor (11) provides a plurality of individual load-engaging support pads (44) aligned longitudinally along the conveyor. The pads are movably supported on runway segments (34) which extend longitudinally. Each runway segment defines an upper raceway surface (41) which movably supports the pad, which upper surface in the preferred embodiment is defined by a plurality of support rollers (41). The runway segments (34) are alternately raised and lowered so that, when in a raised position, the upper surfaces slope downward by gravity along the inclined upper surfaces to forwardly advance the loads through a small distance. When the runway segments (34) are lowered so that the pads disengage the loads, the upper raceway surfaces (41) slope downwardly in the upstream direction to cause gravity-induced return movement of the pads (44) to their original upstream positions.

Un convoyeur par gravité (11) est équipé d'une pluralité de supports de charge (44) alignés longitudinalement le long du convoyeur. Les supports sont supportés de manière amovible sur des segments de chemin de roulement (34) qui s'étendent longitudinalement. Lorsque les segments de chemin de roulement (34) sont abaissés de sorte que les supports se séparent des charges, les surfaces de canal de guidage supérieures (41) penchent vers le bas dans la direction amont de manière à provoquer un mouvement de retour induit par gravité des supports (44), dans leurs positions amont originelles.
